Experience and expertise
Prof Cloda Jenkins is a Principal Teaching Fellow in the economics department at University College London and Associate Director of the UCL Centre for Teaching and Learning Economics (CTaLE). She teaches courses in introductory economics, regulation economics, economics of competition policy and applied policy analysis (MSc level) and is recognised for developing innovative interactive approaches to teaching policy-focused analysis. She has worked as a professional regulatory economist since 1997. As an economic consultant she has advised European companies and regulators in the energy, post, transport and water sectors. She was Head of Ofgem’s review of energy network regulation (RPI-X@20) between 2008 and 2010. She has also delivered economic training to regulators and UK government departments. Her PhD thesis (2004), entitled Efficiency Properties of Price Cap Regulation, examines the performance of RPI-X regulation in the UK water, electricity distribution and electricity transmission sectors between 1990 and 2000. She has published widely on regulatory issues.
The combination of strong academic foundations and practical experience enables Cloda to provide rigorous and well-informed advice on a range of regulatory issues and across a range of sectors. She also uses these skills to provide bespoke training courses on regulation and competition economics.
